Since it’s the beginning of February, I figured I’d give you an update of how my goals are going.
1. I participated in the Dietbet – 4% weight loss in 28 days. Unfortunately, I missed that goal by 1.2 pounds, but that’s ok. I still managed to lose 8 pounds which I will go into more detail about in a minute.
2. I gave up caffeine! I failed on day 25 and had a coffee and went 31 days without any pop.
3, 4, and 5 – I’m still working on.
I want to share with you how I lost 8 pounds in one month. You are probably thinking I’m going to tell you how I spent every waking moment at the gym and ate nothing but vegetables for every meal. This is far from the truth. Honestly, I only went to the gym 2 times the entire month and did not change my diet at all.
The only thing I did differently was I stopped drinking coffee. Let me tell you, this was not easy. I was not able to function in the mornings without having my coffee. The first five days, I had the worst headache ever, but thankfully the headache finally went away on day 6.
I cannot even begin to tell you the difference I felt in my body. I was overall less lethargic throughout the day. I do not have my afternoon crash where I am practically falling asleep at my desk until I get more caffeine. I don’t wake up with headaches anymore and most importantly, I’ve slept better throughout the night than I have in a really, really, really long time. I actually wake up in the morning feeling refreshed rather than being extremely tired.
Then there was my Cherry Coke, which I absolutely love. I gave this up too. Now, I honestly did not drink pop all that often…maybe 2-3 times a week at most. If I could just figure out a way to make a healthy version of Cherry Coke, I would drink it every day.
I am not a nutritionist, dietician or anything to do with health and fitness. I’m not saying this is going to make you lose weight. I just wanted to share what worked for me in hopes that maybe it will work for you too. Most people have a hard time believing this and I would myself, except for the fact that I literally weighed myself every day, at the exact same time and continuously saw the pounds dropping.
I’m not saying I’m giving up drinking coffee or pop forever. I still enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or a cool, refreshing beverage; however, what I am saying is that it’s nice to have it as a treat, not a necessity to life. And let’s face it; sometimes this is just too irresistible.
